For real, nothing holds us back
MIFF hosted its inaugural film festival in 2020 during the pandemic. To keep our audience members safe, we followed all provincial guidelines for a drive-in screening at the Ontario Place. If you remember the scooties, you’re an OG MIFF-goer.
Another one? Yes, another one
MIFF hosted its second drive-in screening at the Ontario Place– we were getting good at these! I guess you can say we know how to follow the rules. This year we also screened a special feature film by Riz Ahmed! With several awesome films and many food options like gol gappe, chaat, chai and shawarma – no one left MIFF hungry or unentertained.
New memo just dropped
Once restrictions were lifted, MIFF hosted it’s very first in-person film festival at the Meridians Art Centre. With performances from Hoodo Hersi, Shamali Afghan and Zaytouna Dabke (Say what?! MIFF had Hasan Minhaj’s show opener, a Coke Studio artist AND dabke hype? Yes, say Masha’Allah)
